Spraying versus mulching
We are asked frequently, should I get the area sprayed first and then get it mulched ?
Most areas that we are asked to clear are large and or heavily overgrown with blackberry, gorse or other noxious growth. These areas would require large scale spray applications. This can add an additional cost and time to the clearance. Generally the area will also be inaccessible without the correct and often costly equipment.
With the use of our tracked or tractor based mulching machines the growth is broken down and mulched into a small fragments creating a layer of decomposing material across the surface.
Leaving no unsightly piles around your property
The newly cleared area can then be accessed easily with any regrowth being spot sprayed to keep under control. This will usually take place within one - two months when the regrowth is most susceptible to sprays and usually requiring one to two applications.
This method of land clearance has been preferred by most of our clients as it works out to be the most cost effective and fastest option to clear and recover an area or get new areas ready for replanting.
Burning gorse
Burning gorse on the surface can spread the seeds widely and help them germinate faster, so it’s not a good option for gorse removal. Mulching gorse and noxious vegetation will help replace nitrogen into the soil and regrowth can be spot sprayed as required.
